TRG International will organise a one-day tree planting trip to O Island, Dong Truong in Dong Nai on 7th April 2012 as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility activities. This is the 4th time the company has undertaken this green activity after previous successful trips to Can Gio and Ben Tre.
Sixty people have registered to join, including spouses and children of TRG International staff. They will be divided into teams to plant 200 trees, each of about 1 metre high.
O Island, Dong Truong lies in the middle of Tri An Lake, about 65 km from Ho Chi Minh City. The type of tree TRG International will plant is called “Truong” in Vietnamese, an indigenous breed of Dong Nai province.
Rick Yvanovich, CEO of TRG International, said: “Tree planting has become a popular annual event for the company. In previous years we have planted thousands of mangrove trees, this year we’re planting Xerospermum noronhianum (Blume) Blume trees which are found across Indochina and unfortunately have been over farmed on O Island, Dong Truong. Our planting this year will help restore the balance and abundance of this tree on O Island, Dong Truong.”
“This is the first time I’ve joined the company’s tree planting trip as I missed the chances to join before. I heard they were all great fun and worthwhile activities so I’m really looking forward to the day”, said Quynh Nguyen – Marketing Executive.
