The move towards IFRS adoption marks a crucial step in enhancing transparency and comparability in financial reporting across businesses in Vietnam. 

IFRS, or International Financial Reporting Standards, is a globally recognised set of accounting rules issued by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB). These standards provide a common language for financial reporting, ensuring that a company's financial statements are transparent, consistent, and comparable across different countries.  

What does this mean for businesses currently operating in Vietnam? 

Vietnam’s financial landscape is evolving faster than ever. As the country continues to “blend in” with the rest of the world, the need for IFRS has become increasingly apparent. However, the challenge lies in transitioning from the current Vietnamese Accounting Standards (VAS) and moving away from the manual way of processing finances. 

On 12 September 2025, TRG, together with our partners from Infor and Forvis Mazars, had a successful workshop on the topic of “Digitalisation for Legislative Readiness: Navigating Vietnam's Financial Transformation”. The goal of the event is to better understand the needs and concerns of finance leaders across different sectors and industries in Vietnam regarding these global accounting standards.
