Vietnamese Ever since its introduction was brought to the industry, the Office of the CFO concept has been bruited about. Its latest seminar Office of the CFO: Change the way work is done in Hanoi – attracted a good turnout. CFOs, CEOs, chief accountants, high level managers and senior staff from nearly 70 companies have participated in the events.
Besides positive feedback from attendees about how useful and practical the concept is, the seminar also drew the attention of media channels. It was broadcast on Ho Chi Minh television in a news bulletin called “Entrepreneur Bridge" (Nhip Cau Doanh Nhan) on May 25th, 2013.

Operating in the world of rapid market changes together with technology’s sociability and mobility, CFOs’ daily tasks are somehow affected. While controlling shifting situations means growing steadily, failing to adapt equals trailing behind everyone. Understanding such a challenge, the seminar highlighted insights into the evolving roles of a CFO, complete financial management and corporate performance management.
Regarding performance management, Rick Yvanovich FCMA CGMA FCPA (Aust) – TRG’s CEO elaborated on a robust business model, aligning the 4 Rs and implementing an effective performance management system. The 4 Rs which are Relationships, Risks, Resources and Routines, help businesses to answer the following questions:
- How do we create value?
- How do we deliver value?
- How do we retain some of the value?
An effective performance management system ensures that performance planning, execution and reporting is a closed-loop process making things happen.
In addition to the key lessons, the news bulletin also quoted two other speakers Eric Lee - Regional Vice President, Financial Solutions Group - ASEAN & India, Infor Corp and Pham Hong Thai - TRG’s Deputy General Manager. They underlined the imperative duty of a CFO which is to lead the change and gain control of the right information to maintain a competitive edge in the current unstable financial situation.
Even though Office of the CFO is a brand new concept, its seminars have received very favourable reviews. Such rousing welcome encourages TRG to work harder to disseminate the concept on a larger scale, with a view to guiding businesses to greatness every day.
