Last week, TRG had a particularly memorable charitable trip to Thien An Shelter for the elderly. The trip is one of TRG’ regular Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. Located in Phu Chau St., Tam Phu Ward, Thu Duc Dist., this shelter is the home of 146 elderly people who do not have family support and require special care. The oldest resident here is already 96 years old.
Despite their hardship, most of the elderly residents are relatively healthy and love to have someone to talk to. They are taken good care of by the nuns and the volunteers who work at the shelter. What is even more impressive is that they still work, peeling garlic gloves and packaging cotton swabs, and donate the proceeds to other charities. We are deeply moved by the way they try to help other less fortune people.
TRG’s donation to Thien An Shelter included essential supplies such as instant porridge, instant noodle, milk, shampoo, toothpaste, cooking oil, soy sauce, medical masks, medical gloves, and diapers. This charity work came about thanks to TRG employees’ contributions and the matching donation policy, in which the company commits to donating as much as the employees do.
This activity is a part of TRG’s CSR programme for this year. Apart from organising our own activities, TRG will be joining plenty of other outside charity events such as AmCham’s Blood Donation Day in July, Tree Planting in August, and Terry Fox Run in November. Among activities that already took place earlier this year are the trip to the town of Đưng K’noh, Lac Duong District, Lam Dong Province, and blood donation events organised by the Red Cross.
