Ho Dong Nguyen is the Director in the Information Technology Communication (ICT) Consulting Services of RSM DTL Auditing Company. He has fifteen years of experience in implementing enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions, focusing on accounting and manufacturing applications. He has managed ERP implementation projects in various industries, including heavy industry, fast-moving consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and professional services. He was the consultant team leader in an ERP implementation project that was one of the implementations of a Scala business solution in Asia. He is also participating as the role of Party A Project Director and ICT Strategy Developer. Prior to joining DTL Auditing Company, he worked for a 100%-foreign-owned firm (Ernst & Young Vietnam), implementing ERP business solutions for seven years. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the Natural Science University in Ho Chi Minh City. He normally acts as the Project Director on ERP implementation projects. He also does the business requirements review, and is actively involved in the design, project planning, and installation of new ERP systems.

The Cloud: A Storm of Confusion

A survey of more than 1,000 American adults was conducted in August 2012 by Wakefield Research and shows that while the cloud is widely used, it is still misunderstood. For example, 51 percent of respondents, including a majority of Millennials, believe stormy weather can interfere with cloud computing.

Nearly one third see the cloud as a thing of the future, yet 97 percent are actually using cloud services today via online shopping, banking, social networking and file sharing. Despite this confusion, three in five (59 percent) believe the “workplace of the future” will exist entirely in the cloud, which indicates people feel it’s time to figure out the cloud or risk being left behind in their professional lives.
