Vietnamese HCMC – October 26, 2017. For years, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has been emphasising the importance of donating safe blood in order to have enough supply to help out in case of crisis or emergency.
When you donate blood, you already save a person’s life! That person could be a pregnant woman in the midst of a complicated C-section, a child with severe anaemia, a person who suffered from a natural disaster, or an individual who’s waiting for blood transfusion during a complicated medical surgery.
In response to WHO’s empowering message, the TRG CSR Group together with the Blood Transfusion Hospital - Haematology Ho Chi Minh City (District 5) organised a blood donating event for all TRG and PJ’s Coffee employees.
The event kick-started at 8.30AM with a general health check-up session for all donors, and depended on the results, each donor was suggested on the amount of blood they are eligible to give.
The event received positive feedback from all the participants, some of whom were frequent donors every time the opportunity arises.

Facts: A healthy adult can donate one unit of blood (350ml) once every three months. The level of blood donated in Vietnam currently only meets 45% of the demand. To encourage more people to voluntarily donate blood and to honour those who have given their own for the greater cause, WHO chose the 14th of June of every year as the World Blood Donor Day.
