Safer Home and Workplace with Fire Safety Awareness

Posted by Quynh Nguyen Nhu on

FIREFIGHTING & PREVENTION WORKSHOP: This event aims at equipping our TRGers with the necessary skills to prevent any fire hazards both at home and at work.

Do you have a fire extinguisher in your home?

Do you know that improper use of fire extinguishers can cause severe damage to your body and your loved ones’?

Do you know which class of fire extinguisher can and cannot be used on the human body?

Fires are a real and serious threat to any workplace and household. Any home or company can experience a fire outbreak. The best way to keep our people safe from fire hazards is to provide quality fire safety training. After all, the best kind of fire protection is fire prevention.

Understanding the importance of fire prevention and firefighting skills, TRG has collaborated with the city police to host a firefighting and prevention workshop for all TRGers on the 25th and 26th of this month at the TRG office. Here are some focus points of the event:

  • The causes of electrical fires and how to prevent them
  • How to deal with fire outbreaks
  • Dos and don’ts in case of a fire outbreak
  • How to sustain life and escape a fire outbreak in different scenarios
  • Different classes of fire extinguishers and their uses
  • Practice using fire extinguishers the right way to put out a fire

SOME QUICK TAKEAWAYS FROM THE EVENT:

  • Check the quality and durability of your old electric devices, their cords and plugs - if they are outdated, worn out, or have melted due to electric heat, replace them immediately
  • Call 114 in case of a fire outbreak
  • Don't cut off the power bridge when the gas (leaked from a gas tank) is overflowing in the room - turning off the circuit breaker can create electric sparks that ignite the gas
  • Periodically check and clean household electrical appliances - accumulated dust on running electrical appliances can cause friction, which then generates heat that leads to fire
  • When using fire extinguishers outdoor, spray the fire extinguisher in the same direction as the wind
