Vietnamese On March 21, 2018, TRG International and Amazon Web Services Vietnam held an interesting TRG Talk on the topic “Cloud – Why Cloud?”. The seminar was hosted by two famous speakers: Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh – Cloud Services Director of TRG International, and Mr. Lex Nguyen – Territory Manager of Amazon Web Services Vietnam. They have brought a lot of useful information around the topic “Cloud enablement” - which is the burning topic these days.
The seminar addressed the security level of cloud computing, one of the biggest concerns among businesses of all sizes nowadays. According to Mr. Lex Nguyen, all operating systems on Cloud are monitored and managed closely by a third party to prevent potential threats from the outside. Additionally, frequently updated systems and tight controls are key to ensure all data in the system are secured. Amazon Web Services Vietnam’s clients include big brands such as Unilever, Vietjet Air, Grab, Slack, etc.

During the seminar, Mr. Lex Nguyen shared a recent incident to prove the intense security of cloud computing. Right after the 2018 AFC U-23 championship between U23 Vietnam and U23 Uzbekistan, Vietjet Air, one of U23 Vietnam main sponsors, experienced various cyber attacks. However, since Vietjet Air’s website was already deployed in the cloud, therefore all the attacks were unsuccessful and the company’s data remained unharmed. If Vietjet Air still used the on-premise platform, the damage would be much more tremendous.
Another popular concern among attendees is the cost. Cloud computing will help businesses to reduce their initial investment and optimise costs by cutting down installation and maintenance expenses of on-premise data centres. Additionally, one of the greatest advantages that most businesses enjoy when using Cloud is the eco-friendly feature as there is no physical data centres or storage required.
