Embracing Kaizen, TRGers Set to Improve English Skills to Drive Personal and Career Success

Posted by Quynh Nguyen Nhu on

At TRG International, we hold "Kaizen" as one of our core values, embodying the commitment to continuous improvement that we strive for every day.

This philosophy permeates all aspects of our work at TRG, driving us to constantly explore new technologies, generate innovative ideas, and test them rigorously. We believe that the key to success lies in our ability to adapt and evolve, which is why we use the insights gained from our experiments to enhance our processes and outcomes.

Committed to fully embracing the value of Kaizen, our Learning and Development (L&D) team at TRG International has dedicated their efforts to developing a range of training programs that empower our TRGers to thrive in an international setting. One such program is the English Improvement initiative in collaboration with ELSA, a mobile language learning app.

The ELSA app offers limitless convenience and learning opportunities for our TRGers. With just twenty minutes of daily commitment, they can engage in interactive learning paths, exercises, and practices tailored to their specific needs, effectively enhancing their English skills. The app's user-friendly interface and personalised approach make it easy and enjoyable for our TRGers to progress at their own pace.

To infuse an element of fun into the learning process, our L&D Administrator, Tien Luong, has designed weekly and monthly gamified challenges. These challenges not only motivate our TRGers to stay consistent with their practice but also foster a sense of healthy competition within the TRG community.

The response to these challenges has been overwhelmingly positive, with TRGers enthusiastically participating and encouraging each other along the way. As a result, we have witnessed a continuous increase in the number of practice hours logged by our TRGers, serving as an encouragement not only for our L&D team but the entire TRG community.

"Being a part of these transformations is one of the best parts of my job as an L&D administrator," said Tien.

The dedication to daily practice for just twenty minutes has yielded remarkable results for TRGers enrolled in the ELSA program. Feedback received indicates significant improvements in English proficiency and a notable boost in confidence.

"Recently, I had an important kick-off meeting coming up, and I wanted to make sure that my pronunciation was clear and effective in delivering my message confidently. Thanks to the ELSA app provided by TRG, I was able to practice and improve my pronunciation skills before the presentation. As a result, I received great feedback from my team members, and I felt really proud of how well I could communicate after using the ELSA app. It made me feel good and confident in my speaking skills."

Many TRGers have shared testimonials about how their increased fluency in English has opened up new opportunities for them, both personally and professionally. They feel more confident in their ability to communicate effectively in an international environment, which leads to better collaboration and increased productivity.

Let's hear from TRGers who have participated in the ELSA program themselves and the person behind this successful L&D initiative, Tien Luong, to gain deeper insights into the passion and dedication that went into creating this impactful program.

A Day in The Life of A Marketing Intern at TRG International

Posted by Quynh Nguyen Nhu on

A day in the life of an intern from an intern’s perspective.

MADS NIELSEN

  • Position: Marketing Intern
  • School: Aalborg University
  • From: Aalborg SØ, Northern Region, Denmark

One of the many great things about being an intern at TRG International is the opportunity to be a part of many events and activities. You could, for example, help represent TRG at a career fair, which allows you to get out of the office, visit different universities around Ho Chi Minh City and promote TRG to students.

You could also help out with other TRG's events regularly hosted at the office, namely the TRG Talk seriesIf you do not want to be part of the organising team, you can still support by writing an article summarising the event.

Still can't quite imagine what's it like being an intern at TRG International? Here is a sneak peek into my normal day at work.

I arrive at work a little before 8 AM and sit with some of the other TRGers down at PJ’s Coffee to enjoy a nice cup of coffee before beginning with our day. Fun fact: when you work at TRG, you get to enjoy any drink at PJ's Coffee for FREE!

TRG is quite flexible with working times. So, if you encounter an unexpected issue one morning, you do not need to worry about getting into trouble for being late.

One of the things to get used to, if you are not from Vietnam, is that many members do not show up to work until 8.30 or 9. This can also include some of the people you need information from, meaning you might not be able to get that information right away.

Being an intern, you will have plenty of tasks throughout the week. Sometimes this, of course, does not go exactly to plan, and you might be juggling a couple of tasks simultaneously. But most of the time, you know exactly what you will be doing that week.

Once the clock hits 8:10, I start tackling my tasks. If any problems arise, I quickly ask the task creator (can be anybody from the Marketing team) to clarify their requirements or get in touch with our supervisor to get more information.

Once everything is settled, I work on my task until lunch, with some occasional coffee-breaks, before I head for lunch at 11.30 AM. We found that it is much better to get lunch a bit early to avoid the big rush that starts at 12.

After lunch, it is time to get back to work. Normally, if you have not talked to one of your supervisors, this is the time where messages start flying around. They could be, for example, approval or feedback for the work you did in the morning, or just a quick chat from your supervisor asking how you are doing.

Since you know what you will be doing for the entire week, it is easy to predict how long you will need to complete a task and what kind of activities to expect next.

I finish work at around 4.30 PM and head out the door, either going home to rest or out to dinner with mates or co-workers.
